Organ Recital

The recital was given by Dom Alban Nunn OSB at the organ of St Mary's Cathedral, Hobart, on Friday evening 2 March 2012.

Centrepiece of the recital was the first performance of a new work by Nunn entitled Tessera and inspired by Pugin's encaustic tile designs. Of this work the reviewer for the Hobart Mercury commented: 'The four-part work contrasted bold heraldic fanfares with shimmering melodies. The third movement Andante was most apt to Pugin's artistry, suggesting delicacy and attention ro detail.'

Chamber Orchestra Concert

The concert was given by the Hobart Chamber Orchestra in St John's Church, Richmond, on Saturday afternoon 3 March 2012.

The reviewer for the Hobart Mercury observed that the orchestra 'sounded rich and clear in the excellent acoustic'.

Choral Concert

The concert was given by the Choir of Newman College within the University of Melbourne in St Mary's Cathedral, Hobart. on Saturday evening 3 March 2012.

Writing in the Hobart Mercury the reviewer observed that: The 'a capella' works were performed in front of the altar, in full view of the audience, while several works calling for organ accompaniment were performed to great effect from the organ loft in the back of the church.' She added: 'Mendelssohn's Hear my Prayer / O for the Wings of a Dove was given particularly fine treatment, featuring some wonderful dynamic and textural contrasts from the choir and a superb solo from soprano Helen Thomson.'

Unaccompanied Violin Recital

The recital was given by violinist Peter Tanfield in St Patrick's Church, Colebrook, on Sunday afternoon 4 March 2012.

The Hobart Mercury reviewer remarked that: 'This solo recital enjoyed its perfect acoustic space' and that the 'technical prowess of Tanfield never palled during his absorbing delivery'.
